Want to flex your writing muscles AND make a positive impact on people your age? ReachOut.com is looking for two (2) Bay Area-based editorial interns to work with the team behind ReachOut.com, a site where people share their stories about how they made it through a hard time and facts about everything from drugs to money management. The position involves research and writing relevant and appealing content for people ages 16-24. The position is unpaid, but can be done for college credit.
Responsibilities
- Pitching, researching, writing, reporting and copy editing original content including fact sheets and blog posts
- Editing and formatting, ReachOut Council member blog posts, user-submitted stories and fact sheets
- Working with the Director of Digital Programs on other content-oriented initiatives and partnerships
Qualifications
- College Sophomore or above preferred
- Active interest in youth culture
- Excellent writing ability
- Proven copyediting skills
- Social media savvy
- Familiarity with WordPress, basic HTML
- Photo and video editing skills a plus!
Experience
The ideal intern would be interested in pursuing a career in new media journalism. This is great opportunity to get hands-on exposure to how a content-driven non-profit youth organization works. Volunteering and experience in the mental health field a plus. Interns will all go through an orientation to the organization and its values, set goals for the duration of the internship, receive 1:1 management/mentoring and an exit interview/evaluation.
